My interview on Health in Heels with Dr. Lisa Masterson. We’re talking African luxury fashion, NYFW and mentoring.

In life, you can never meet enough people who have passion, vision and a good heart. I spent an amazing afternoon with Dr. Lisa Masterson taping an episode of her show ‘Health in Heels with Dr. Lisa”. We chatted about African luxury fashion, NYFW and the trends that are fresh from the runway, charity and the importance of mentoring.

A behind the scenes moment with Dr. Lisa Masterson during the taping of Health in Heels. I’m wearing a Sarayaa Fashion vest made in Senegal as we discuss Vanichi’s #WIMIWAF editorial and emerging African luxury fashion.

I also mentioned our forthcoming Vanichi Magazine PSA (public service annoucement) that reimagines movie icons in African fashion. We partnered with The Africa Channel to present an editorial called “What If Movie Icons Wore African Fashion?” that can followed on social media through the hashtag #WIMIWAF. During the interview, I had the honor of showcasing a gorgeous Ankara vest by Safiétou Seck of Sarayaa Fashion, one of the designers featured in our campaign. Her pieces are handmade in Senegal with exquisite detail.

Not only is Dr. Lisa committed to women’s health, but she also loves all things fashion and has collected amazing pieces of African fashion during her medical work on the continent.

During the interview, I was asked who inspires me and I couldn’t help but give a shout out to Kathy Eldon and the extraordinary work that is happening at Creative Visions Foundation.
