Joy Donnell is a writer, cultural narrative architect, and producer whose work sits at the intersection of storytelling, systems thinking, and cultural transformation. For over a decade she has helped mission-driven organizations, media companies, and visionary leaders build the narrative infrastructure that turns complex ideas into lived realities.

Her consulting practice, CIME, the Center for Intersectional Media and Entertainment, advises scalable narrative change strategies that drive tangible culture shifts. Through CIME, Joy has guided organizations across philanthropy, science, entertainment, and social impact in designing the narrative ecosystems that advance their missions and shift public perception.

Joy’s literary work extends and deepens that practice. Their science fiction, solarpunk, and speculative writing imagines the futures her consulting work is helping to build. Her climate fiction short story, “Heirloom”, was selected as an Editor’s Pick in Grist‘s Imagine 2200 Climate Fiction Story Initiative, one of the most recognized platforms for climate-forward fiction. Her short poetry was recently honored by the Science Fiction Poetry Association. Joy’s work has also appeared in Technology of Togetherness from TakeUp Space and Collectif Volume V from Mount Saint Mary’s University, and she was a finalist in the Short Edition Money Chronicles Story Initiative.

Her nonfiction book, Beyond Brand, explores personal branding through the lens of personal development. Show Us Your Fire is a poetry and prose collection diving into the psychospiritual power of disruption and our birthright to self-compassion. Their words and visual work have been featured in W Magazine, Demand Africa, HuffPost, and Buzzfeed. As executive producer of the short documentary Inseparable from the Sunlight, she brought cinematic attention to humanity’s connection to plants, the Earth, and the cosmos.
